I am a qualified counsellor and family mediator. I have worked within the care sector for 15 years supporting adults, teenagers, children, and families. I have worked with people presenting many different issues and supported them to get to where they need to be with positive outcomes. Everyone deserves to be happy, and everyone can be happy once they decide to start their journey. I strongly believe that our thoughts control our lives, BUT we control our thoughts and with this in mind anything is possible.

Why we might at certain times of our lives require some support.
Life gives us challenges at times no matter who we are. We are better equipped to deal with these challenges when we have the right support in place. This is where counselling can play a big part in supporting you to deal with whatever challenges you might be facing. Studies have shown that traumatic childhood events can present in our lives when we reach adulthood leaving us in a state of confusion. No matter what your challenges are or where they have come from, counselling is there to help you deal with them in a safe and neutral place.
Sometimes life takes hold of us, and we get into a place of being stuck and this is where counselling can support you to recognise what is keeping us in a place of fear, anxiety, depression, and a lack of fulfilling our potential of living a life of freedom from these things. Once we start to reflect then we can make choices to change and to look at the different options we have around us.
Living with depression, anxiety, or something more severe such as bipolar disorder, it is more likely you will experience times of distress in addition to common life challenges. Once the therapy journey starts whether this be online with a therapist or in person you will start to see the value of therapy. There are plenty of individuals who unfortunately do not receive the care that they desperately need for mental health issues. In fact, there are barriers to mental health services that are somewhat out of the client's control. Despite the barriers, therapy is an excellent way to treat chronic mental illness.
Counselling can support many issues that may present in everyday life. Please see the list on my website showing some of the issues I can work with but not limited to. If you present with an issue that is out of my remit, I will be able to help you to seek the correct professional that is best to support you. Please contact me if you are experiencing an issue with something that is not on this list.
Counselling is a talking therapy where you can explore what is happening for you and this is done with a qualified counsellor. Therapy can be either short term or long term and will be tailored to your individual needs. Sometimes just by talking to someone helps and by taking the step forward in recognising that you need some support is the beginning of a journey to a more fulfilled life.
